Kidbrooke Village
Developer: Berkley Homes
Planning Authority: London Borough of Greenwich
The £1 billion Kidbrooke Masterplan is transforming the former Ferrier Estate into a vibrant London suburb. Scheduled for completion in the early 2030s , the phased regeneration will provide over 5,000 new homes (nearly 40% of which are affordable) , extensive parkland, and a new village centre.
Our role:
Chess Engage supported Berkeley Homes on the Kidbrooke Village estate regeneration project from 2014 to 2025, providing consultation and community engagement across multiple phases of the Masterplan as it evolved.
Our approach:
Over more than a decade, we delivered a wide range of consultation and engagement programmes to support successive phases of the Masterplan, including the Masterplan review. Working closely with Berkeley Homes, we developed tailored engagement strategies incorporating public exhibitions, project websites, stakeholder engagement, presentations, media relations, stakeholder mapping and local intelligence reporting.
Given the long-term nature of the regeneration, the project saw changes in political leadership, council officers and community stakeholders over time. Our approach focused on maintaining strong relationships with key local stakeholders and adapting engagement strategies to reflect the evolving political and community landscape.
Most recently, in 2023, we designed and delivered the consultation and engagement programme for Phase 5 Buildings A & B. The programme included a five-day public exhibition, a dedicated project website, and targeted engagement with elected members and key local interest groups.
Results:
Throughout our involvement, we have supported Berkeley Homes in delivering consultation across multiple phases of the Kidbrooke Village Masterplan. The consultation for Phase 5 Buildings A & B was successfully completed and planning permission granted.
